Charitable Bequest
Leaving a legacy is a way of leaving your mark on this world. When envisioning your legacy, what does it look like to you? Perhaps the Manlius Historical Society can help you with envisioning your legacy, at least in part. The Manlius Historical Society is dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and promoting the rich history and cultural heritage of Manlius, Illinois. By bequeathing a portion of your estate, you are making a meaningful investment in preserving Manlius’ history and cultural heritage. Your charitable bequest will benefit not only the historical society and its mission but will ensure that your values and passions are reflected in your legacy, which will be enjoyed by generations to come.
Whether you have a grand or modest estate, you can make an impact by bequeathing a fixed dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. To select the most appropriate type of charitable bequest, please consult with your attorney and/or estate planner/advisor. An example of the bequest language is: “I give to the Manlius Historical Society, whose office address is 122 East Maple Avenue, Manlius, Illinois 61338, ___________ (insert either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of my estate) for the benefit of the Manlius Historical Society.”
In-person cash donations are also accepted at the Museum.
Memorial and Tribute Gifts
A memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor someone you admire. Gifts can be made to the Manlius Historical Society to honor friends and family members on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, and other memorable events. Gifts in memory of loved ones help us to continue our mission. We will inform the honoree or their family of your honor or memorial gifts to the Manlius Historical Society. The Manlius Historical Society is defined as a non-profit organization under section 501© (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law.
Memorabilia Donations
Cleaning out a family home? Before you throw anything out, think of us! We are taking donations of memorabilia from Manlius and the surrounding area. We have many collections of newspaper articles and displays of memorabilia from Old Manlius, Manlius, New Bedford, Thomas, and the surrounding area from as early as the late 1890s, 1900, and later. We have most of the annuals, class pictures, and sports trophies from Manlius High School from 1921 to 1995 when it closed. We also have nearly 40 binders filled with information and pictures, several military uniforms from as early as World War 1, Railroad items, items given out to customers advertising area businesses, and much more. We are always interested in receiving anything regarding the area, so if you, or someone you may know, has anything of interest, we surely would appreciate any donation.
